Analyzing graphs by degrees
Let G = (V, E) be a graph and let N(v) = {u : uv ∈ E} be the open neighborhood of a vertex v ∈ V . The degree of v, deg(v) = |N(v)|, equals the number of vertices u that are adjacent to v. By considering the relationships between deg(v) and the degrees deg(u), for every u ∈ N(v), we define 10 types of vertices and study some of their properties.
متن کاملNormative consent is not consent.
The UK has an opt-in system of consent for postmortem organ donation. More specifically, the Human Tissue Act 2004 prohibits the removal, storage, and use of organs postmortem for a range of ‘‘scheduled purposes’’—which include transplantation—unless ‘‘appropriate consent’’ has been given. Appropriate consent can be given by the donor premortem by signing and carrying a donor card, or by opting...
متن کاملImproving the quality of consent to randomised controlled trials by using continuous consent and clinician training in the consent process.
OBJECTIVE To assess whether continuous consent, a process in which information is given to research participants at different stages in a trial, and clinician training in that process were effective when used by clinicians while gaining consent to the Total Body Hypothermia (TOBY) trial. The TOBY trial is a randomised controlled trial (RCT) investigating the use of whole-body cooling for neonat...
متن کاملVoluntary contributions by consent or dissent
We study games where voluntary contributions can be adjusted until a steady state is found. In consent games contributions start at zero and can be increased by consent, and in dissent games contributions start high and can be decreased by dissent. Equilibrium analysis predicts free riding in consent games but, in contrast, as much as socially efficient outcomes in dissent games. In our experim...
